GRP Waterproofing Terms

GRP Roof Waterproofing Terms

These additional terms apply where we provide GRP roof waterproofing, also known as fibreglass roofing, for residential, landlord or commercial customers.

These terms apply alongside our main Terms of Service. Where there is any conflict between these GRP Roof Waterproofing Terms and our main Terms of Service, these GRP-specific terms will apply to the GRP roof waterproofing service only.

1. Service Covered

Our GRP roof waterproofing service may include waterproofing suitable small to medium flat roof areas using a single resin GRP system.

This may include suitable:

  • Garage roofs
  • Flat roof extensions
  • Porches
  • Utility roofs
  • Outbuildings
  • Workshops
  • Small commercial flat roof areas
  • Suitable landlord or rental property flat roof areas

We are trained in GRP roof waterproofing installation. We do not describe ourselves as an official fitter unless this is confirmed separately in writing by the relevant provider, manufacturer or scheme.

2. Suitability and Assessment

All GRP roof waterproofing work is subject to roof suitability.

Before quoting or carrying out work, we may carry out a roof assessment. Unless specifically agreed otherwise, this assessment is visual and non-invasive only.

A visual assessment may not identify all hidden issues. Hidden defects may only become apparent once work begins.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Trapped moisture
  • Rotten timber
  • Damaged decking
  • Failed boards
  • Hidden leaks
  • Structural movement
  • Poor previous workmanship
  • Moisture beneath existing roof coverings
  • Defective insulation
  • Issues hidden by existing materials

We are not responsible for hidden defects, trapped moisture, rotten decking, structural issues or other problems that could not reasonably be identified during a visual, non-invasive assessment.

3. Existing Roof Condition

The existing roof area must be suitable before GRP waterproofing can be applied.

We do not replace roof decking, joists, structural parts or major roof components as part of the GRP waterproofing service.

If the roof deck, boards, joists, structure or surrounding roof area are rotten, damaged, unsafe or unsuitable, you may need to arrange a roofer, builder or other specialist before GRP waterproofing can proceed.

We may stop, postpone or decline work if the roof area is not suitable.

4. Existing Roof Coverings

GRP waterproofing may be installed over existing roof coverings where suitable, but only where:

  • The existing surface is assessed as suitable
  • The condition allows it
  • This is included in the quote
  • We are satisfied that the work can be carried out appropriately

If the existing roof covering is not suitable, additional work may be required before GRP waterproofing can proceed.

5. Structural Roofing Work Excluded

Our GRP waterproofing service is for suitable flat roof waterproofing only.

We do not carry out structural roofing work.

This means we do not repair, replace or alter:

  • Roof joists
  • Structural timber
  • Major roof decking
  • Roof structure
  • Load-bearing elements
  • Major drainage design
  • Structural falls or roof design issues

Where structural or major roofing work is required, you may need to use a specialist roofer, builder or other appropriately qualified trade.

6. Quotes and Written Acceptance

GRP roof waterproofing is quoted individually.

The quote may depend on:

  • Roof size
  • Roof condition
  • Access
  • Preparation required
  • Existing roof covering
  • Materials required
  • Edges, trims or detailing
  • Waste removal, where included
  • Whether the work is residential, landlord or commercial
  • Any additional requirements identified during assessment

Website prices or general pricing information are guide information only. The confirmed written quote takes priority.

GRP roof waterproofing work must be accepted in writing before the work is booked. Written acceptance may include email, message or another written confirmation.

7. Deposits and Payment

Deposits for GRP roof waterproofing follow our main Terms of Service.

We may ask for a deposit for larger jobs or where materials need to be ordered in advance.

Unless agreed otherwise:

  • Residential customers pay on completion.
  • Landlord customers pay within 7 days of invoice.
  • Commercial customers pay within 7 days of invoice.

Any payment terms, deposits or staged payments will be confirmed in the quote where relevant.

8. Weather and Roof Conditions

GRP roof waterproofing is weather dependent.

Work may be rearranged if weather or roof conditions are unsuitable.

This may include conditions such as:

  • Rain
  • Wet surfaces
  • Excess moisture
  • Unsuitable temperatures
  • Frost or ice
  • High winds
  • Poor drying or curing conditions
  • Forecasted weather that may affect the work

We are not responsible for delays caused by unsuitable weather or roof conditions.

9. Access Requirements

Safe access must be available for assessment and installation.

Any additional access arrangements, such as ladders, towers, scaffolding or other access equipment, will be discussed before the work is agreed.

If safe access is not available, or if access requirements are different from what was described when quoting, the work may need to be rearranged or re-quoted.

You are responsible for ensuring that the work area, and any relevant areas beneath or near the roof, are safe, clear and suitable before work begins.

10. Weather Protection During Work

Weather and roof protection arrangements will be discussed before work begins where relevant.

Temporary protection is not included unless specifically agreed in the quote.

We are not responsible for delays or issues caused by sudden weather changes outside our reasonable control.

11. Roof Details, Edges and Related Items

GRP work covers the agreed waterproofing area only.

The following are separate unless specifically agreed in writing:

  • Gutters
  • Flashing
  • Outlets
  • Trims
  • Upstands
  • Roof edges
  • Drainage details
  • Wall abutments
  • Neighbouring roof areas
  • Brickwork
  • Fascias
  • Soffits
  • Any related roof detailing

If these items need work, this must be agreed separately and included in the quote.

12. Drainage, Falls and Ponding Water

GRP waterproofing may waterproof a suitable roof surface, but it does not correct underlying drainage, roof fall, slope or structural design issues unless separate work is agreed.

This includes issues such as:

  • Poor roof falls
  • Ponding water
  • Inadequate drainage
  • Incorrect roof slope
  • Structural design problems
  • Water collecting due to the shape or construction of the roof

If these issues are present, additional specialist advice or work may be required.

13. Leaks and Water Ingress

GRP waterproofing applies only to the agreed roof area.

It does not guarantee that all water ingress issues will be resolved if the source of the leak is outside the agreed waterproofing area.

Water may enter from other sources, including:

  • Walls
  • Brickwork
  • Flashing
  • Gutters
  • Windows
  • Doors
  • Fascias
  • Neighbouring roofs
  • Chimneys
  • Poor drainage
  • Structural defects
  • Internal condensation or damp issues

If water ingress continues after GRP waterproofing and the source is outside the agreed roof area, this may require separate investigation or specialist work.

14. Existing Damp, Condensation and Internal Moisture

GRP waterproofing applies only to the agreed external roof area.

It does not resolve unrelated damp, moisture or ventilation issues, including:

  • Condensation
  • Internal damp
  • Rising damp
  • Penetrating damp from walls
  • Ventilation problems
  • Mould caused by internal conditions
  • Water ingress from areas outside the agreed roof area

These issues may require separate assessment by an appropriate specialist.

15. Hazardous or Unsafe Materials

We may stop, postpone or decline work if we believe the roof area contains hazardous, unsafe or unsuitable materials.

This may include materials or conditions that require specialist handling, removal or assessment.

Where specialist work is required, the customer will be responsible for arranging this before GRP waterproofing can proceed.

16. Resin, Odour and Ventilation

GRP materials may create temporary smells, fumes or odours during installation and curing.

Customers should keep children, pets and vulnerable people away from the work area while work is being carried out and during any relevant curing period.

Suitable ventilation should be allowed where needed, especially where the work is near occupied spaces, garages, workshops or commercial premises.

If you have specific concerns about smells, fumes, sensitivities or vulnerable occupants, you should raise these before work begins.

17. Curing and Aftercare

After GRP waterproofing has been applied, the roof surface may need time to cure.

You must not:

  • Walk on the surface
  • Place items on the roof
  • Allow access onto the roof
  • Drag items across the surface
  • Interfere with the roof area
  • Allow third parties to work on or near the roof

until we have advised that it is suitable to do so.

Failure to follow curing or aftercare guidance may affect the finish, performance or condition of the surface.

18. Ongoing Maintenance

After completion, you are responsible for basic ongoing maintenance of the roof area.

This may include:

  • Keeping gutters clear
  • Keeping outlets clear
  • Removing debris where safe and appropriate
  • Avoiding damage from sharp objects
  • Not dragging items across the surface
  • Checking the roof after storms or heavy weather
  • Arranging prompt repair if damage occurs
  • Preventing avoidable damage from other trades or equipment

We are not responsible for issues caused by lack of maintenance, misuse, third-party damage or failure to follow aftercare guidance.

19. Third-Party Damage

We are not responsible for damage caused by third parties after completion.

This may include damage caused by:

  • Roofers
  • Builders
  • Decorators
  • Satellite or TV installers
  • Solar panel installers
  • Other trades
  • Customers walking on the roof
  • Ladders
  • Tools
  • Equipment
  • Furniture or stored items
  • Plant pots or other objects placed on the roof

Any third party working on or near the GRP surface should take appropriate care to avoid damage.

20. Appearance and Finish

Minor variations in colour, texture or finish may occur.

The final appearance may depend on:

  • Existing surface condition
  • Materials used
  • Weather conditions
  • Application conditions
  • Curing conditions
  • Roof shape and detailing
  • Preparation requirements

Small variations in finish do not necessarily mean the work is defective.

21. Waste Removal

Waste removal for GRP roof waterproofing is only included where specifically stated in the quote.

This may include old materials, offcuts, packaging or installation waste.

Waste removal may be charged separately where required.

If waste removal is not included in the quote, the customer may be responsible for disposal.

22. Issues, Visible Workmanship Concerns and Water Ingress

For visible workmanship issues, such as finish concerns, visible defects or installation concerns, you must notify us within 7 days of completion.

For water ingress or leak concerns after GRP waterproofing, you must notify us as soon as the issue is noticed after rainfall.

We must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the issue before any third-party repairs or alterations are carried out.

We are not responsible for issues that are worsened, altered or made impossible to assess because another person has worked on the roof before we have had a reasonable opportunity to inspect it.

This does not affect your legal rights as a residential consumer.

23. No Automatic Warranty or Guarantee

No warranty or guarantee is provided under these GRP Roof Waterproofing Terms unless it is confirmed separately in writing in the quote or project documents.

Any warranty or guarantee, if offered, will be subject to the terms, exclusions and conditions stated in that written document.

Nothing in this section affects your legal rights as a residential consumer.

24. Relationship With Main Terms of Service
